Geoff McQueen

Geoff joined Elliot Watson Financial Planning as one of the newest team members, commencing as an adviser assistant and progressing through his Professional Year toward becoming a Financial Adviser. He is the former Co-Founder and Director of the national award-winning Newcastle & Hunter Community Health and is passionate about helping clients navigate the financial complexities of the aged care system.

Geoff is equally committed to supporting business owners and families in building long-term financial security. He has a strong passion for helping clients grow wealth, plan for retirement, optimise superannuation or SMSF strategies, and make confident financial decisions at every stage of life.

Qualifications

Geoff brings more than 30 years of experience and leadership across primary, secondary and tertiary industries, including aluminium, manufacturing, construction, and the aged and disability sectors. He holds a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning from Victoria University, a Bachelor of Business from RMIT University, and an MBA from the University of Newcastle. He has also attained a Diploma of Leadership and Management and Certificate IV qualifications in OHS, Training & Assessment, and Frontline Management.

Most recently, Geoff successfully completed the Aged Care Steps Accredited Aged Care Professional™ program, becoming qualified to deliver high-quality aged care financial advice. In February 2026, he also achieved the SMSF Association’s SMSF Specialist Advisor (SSA®) designation after completing the Kaplan Professional SMSF Regulation and Taxation course. This accreditation recognises his advanced expertise in SMSF regulation and taxation and reflects his commitment to maintaining the highest standards of advice and integrity when supporting clients with self-managed superannuation funds.

Personal Life

Geoff is a born and bred Novocastrian, attended St Peter’s high school in Maitland and played rugby league for the local Pumpkin Pickers. He resides in the Newcastle area with his wife and two daughters.

Geoff is also passionate about giving back to his local community, spending 10 years as a patrolling member and current Director of Finance for the Stockton Surf Lifesaving Club.
